Why do Ba/F3 cells work so well for expressing recombinant kinases and other oncogenic proteins?

Ever since producing our first recombinant kinase assay back in 2007, this question has interested, compelled, and sometimes vexed us. With the advent of next-generation sequencing, we have access to a new tool that we are using to further explore this question.
